Come Feel the Welcome!
Missions![]() Mission Report
Please visit the Methodist Children's Home website to see how you can help them meet their needs.
Contact has been made through officials in the United Methodist Church to determine ways that we can help families affected by the recent tornado in Magee. If you would be interested in participating on a work team organized to help with the clean up efforts, please call me at 601-829-0031 (home) or 601-927-4196 (cell) or email me at bingham00@bellsouth.net as soon as possible. You will be contacted once we get some firm information. Because of the current economic
climate, the food pantry at Stewpot is really struggling to have an adequate supply of non-perishable food for those seeking help from that ministry. In an effort to help those who lack the resources to feed their families, we are designating one week of each quarter to ask that the Fannin UMC membership bring canned and other non perishable food items to the church to be delivered the following week to Stewpot. April begins the second quarter of the year, so Sunday, April 19th through Sunday, April 26th, has been designated as the week for this quarter. Please think about this mission when shopping for your family and remember those who are dependent on Stewpot by purchasing some additional items to support that worthwhile ministry. Remember Jesus’ words, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” He says when we’ve done this for the least of them, we’ve done it for Him. Our sister Rankin County church, St. Marks
United Methodist Church, is working with the Salt & Light Ministry to again send a mission team to Honduras in June. A big part of that team’s work in Honduras is building houses through the Habitat for Humanity housing ministry. They are requesting the help of other congregations to help defray the cost of building these houses, each of which has $5,500 in building materials cost. The family who is the recipient of the Habitat home is required not only to pay for the home but also must work with the members of the mission team in actually constructing the home. While we may not be able to provide the money for an entire house, please prayerfully consider making a contribution toward this worthwhile effort. Checks should be payable to Fannin UMC and notated for the Honduras Habitat House. We will need to provide all monies collected for this purpose to St. Marks by the end of May. ~Jesse Bingham, Missions Chairperson
