Come Feel the Welcome!
Fannin HappeningsMusic Notes
Musically, we have typically taken things easy in the summer and then gotten our choir back together for the fall and Christmas seasons. This year will be no different, except we would like to add some new things into the worship mix as well!
The choir will kick off with a fall and Christmas Preview on Sunday, August 30th at 6:00 p.m. Then, regular rehearsals will begin the week after Labor Day on Sunday, September 13th also at 6:00 p.m.
In addition to the choir, we would like to include some ensembles, soloists, and instrumentalists to our worship services. I know of several of you who have “secret” gifts in these areas. Well, now is your time to shine. If you love to sing or play an instrument, you are invited to share your gifts with us! Please see Amy to let us know of your willingness to serve the Kingdom of God in one of these ways. We look forward to enriching our worship experience together this fall!
Homework Help Restarted
With school starting August 10th, our Homework Help program will probably kick off sometime in early September. The teachers need time to identify the students who most need our help.
We’re a year “smarter” into this wonderful ministry, but still need your help. Remember, you don’t have to be a certified teacher to do this—all you need is your own storehouse of knowledge and a desire to help children who may not get this attention otherwise.
We meet for one hour, two afternoons a week, and have all types of resources available to help us out, including subject training, if needed.
This is our church family at its very best--“offering hope and belonging, growing and sharing our faith, and serving with glad and generous hearts.”
Please call, or come by to see me, and sign up! The children of the Fannin community need you.

UMW News
UMW back on track! Please make plans to join us on Tuesday, August 11th at 6:30 p.m. for a time of devotion, fellowship, and planning.

UMM News
Fannin men plan to have a barbeque in September. The Boston butts will once again be available, along with our usual delicious chicken dinner. The tentative date for the barbeque is September 12th. Stay tuned!
We also plan to have a UMM meeting on August 30th at 8:00 a.m., before Common Grounds. A light breakfast will be served. All men of our congregation are encouraged to attend.
We will also try to schedule a “work day” in August to clean up church grounds. Watch your bulletin for dates and times.
Our Adopted Airman
For those of us who like to use the computer, you may want to follow this blog from SSgt David Flowers and his wife Liz. http://www.ward57.blogspot.com/
This is the young man who lost a leg in a land mine explosion in Afghanistan and thought he was going to lose the other. He decided to have a second surgery to try to save the leg, and this is the story of his progress.
Donna Cox (his aunt and Vicki Parnell’s good friend) says to let everyone know how appreciative they all are for our prayers.
