God created us to be in relationship with Him. His greatest desire is not for us to do so much as it is to be—to know Him (not just about Him) and to walk with Him daily throughout the course of our lives. I don’t know about you, but for some reason I tend to forget that and get too busy trying to do that I miss the point of growing in relationship. It is through nurturing a relationship with Jesus that we are able to tap into the purposes and abilities He has for us.
I’ve been reading “Experiencing God Day-By-Day” by Henry and Richard Blackaby in my devotion times and want to share an excerpt with you entitled “God’s Initiatives”:
“The most dramatic changes in your life will come from God’s initiative, not yours. The people God used mightily in Scripture were all ordinary people to whom He gave divine assignments…The Lord often took them by surprise, for they were not seeking significant mandates from God. Even so, He saw their hearts, and He knew they were trustworthy…
The Lord may be initiating some new things in your life. When He tells you what His plans are, trust Him and walk closely with Him. Don’t let the busyness of your present activity keep you from experiencing all that God has in store for you. You will see Him accomplish things through your life that you never dreamed were possible.” (p.211)
May we all be reminded of what God truly desires from us, and then may we walk with Him in amazement of His greatness!
